Public Service Announcement

This is from Abrieftasteoflove at Tumblr. Here are her words verbatim. (http://abrieftasteoflove.tumblr.com/post/5025323616/attention-frankenstein-benedict-jonny-sherlock-fans)

There are currently two auctions on Ebay for tickets to the final performance of Frankenstein. PLEASE DON’T BID ON THEM.

They were donated to the Swivel Theatre Company by Rakspatel to auction off as a fundraiser. The auction listing claims that “these tickets were donated to our theatre company by a patron at the National Theatre.”

RAKSPATEL DOES NOT HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO DONATE ANYTHING FOR AN AUCTION ON BEHALF OF THE NATIONAL THEATRE.

Face value of the tickets is £12. The opening bid of the auction is £70. I don’t need to tell you that this is a ripoff. I don’t need to tell you that one theatre company does not have the right to sell tickets to a performance by another theatre company for their own profit.

The auction listing also claims that you get “entry to the closing night party to which all the cast, crew and the director have been invited”.

THIS IS COMPLETE BULLSHIT.

The cast and crew have been endlessly HARASSED by Rakspatel. They have had offensively worded “posh invites” FORCED on them by Rakspatel. What you’re actually being granted “entry” to is a roped off section in the lobby of The National Theatre that anybody and everybody can wander into if whenever they please. Rakspatel will be there celebrating herself and her “connections”.

It’s not about Frankenstein anymore and it hasn’t been for quite a long time.

Again, PLEASE DON’T BID ON THESE TICKETS. Don’t give her the satisfaction of thinking she’s done a charitable thing. It’s not. It’s illegal. And it’s hugely disrespectful to The National Theatre.

First ticket : D41 - return code 5 - Order 4517058 Rakshita Patel
Second ticket : B 19 - return code 7 - Order 4517058 Rakshita Patel

Tell them one of their patrons thinks it’s ok to sell tickets on ebay (illegal) for an organisation that is absolutely not referenced as charity (illegal), and it also happens to be the crazy fan who has been stalking celebrities at the stage door and bothering the actors.

Oh, for crying out loud, not again. Permission to signal-boost this on Twitter?

[identity profile] morelindo.livejournal.com 2011-04-29 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Apparently the auctions have been removed from ebay now so presumably its been dealt with. But there is no permission needed - feel free to spread the word.

This has been beyond ridiculous for a long time now, so I don't know why I'm surprised that she'd do this, but I'm horrified. Seriously, who does she think she is that she can do this? It's unbelievable.

the auctions have been removed from ebay, just letting you know.

[identity profile] morelindo.livejournal.com 2011-04-29 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Cheerio!

[identity profile] morelindo.livejournal.com 2011-04-29 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm, I just checked and I can still see them...

[identity profile] days-of-storm.livejournal.com 2011-04-29 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
yes, if you follow the links...but it you check the items for sale list, there are none listed.

[identity profile] morelindo.livejournal.com 2011-04-29 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that makes more sense now - thank you.

[identity profile] fullofowls.livejournal.com 2011-04-29 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
oh god does she NEVER stop?

[identity profile] morelindo.livejournal.com 2011-04-29 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope. But the auctions have been removed from ebay now so presumably its been dealt with.

The crazy just keeps coming... Seriously, I'm amazed that they still let her in at National Theater.

[identity profile] morelindo.livejournal.com 2011-04-29 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
She had a run-in with Security at the NT on the night of the Q & A, I'm assuming she's been banned now.

[identity profile] eumelkeks.livejournal.com 2011-04-30 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
LOL, woot? Please elaborate on her crazy!

[identity profile] morelindo.livejournal.com 2011-04-30 07:54 am (UTC)(link)
Er, same person I posted about here (http://morelindo.livejournal.com/449910.html). The one with the posh invites and the Frankenstein closing night party and all the rest of it.

[identity profile] eumelkeks.livejournal.com 2011-04-30 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I know the person in question, I would have liked to hear details about her run-in with the security personnel. JUICY DETAILS AND SUCH.

[identity profile] morelindo.livejournal.com 2011-04-30 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I see. I'm afraid I don't have juicy details - we just know that someone from Security spoke to her before the Q & A and then she posted she wouldn't have to stagedoor at the NT ever again, which made us think she'd been banned.

[identity profile] hobbit-feets.livejournal.com 2011-04-29 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, dear god</>, she doesn't give up, does she?

[identity profile] morelindo.livejournal.com 2011-04-29 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope. But at least the auctions have been removed from ebay now so presumably its been dealt with.

[identity profile] ldhenson.livejournal.com 2011-04-29 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm, I'm still seeing both listings on ebay.co.uk. Both with multiple bids.

(Interestingly, over here in the US at least ebay actually encourages ticket reselling, although it seems to be in a kind of legal gray area. But I've never tried so I don't know the details.)

[identity profile] morelindo.livejournal.com 2011-04-29 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I can see them too *facepalm* It is a legally grey area but no matter what the legality of it is, reselling them for hundreds of pounds instead of just returning them to the theatre is just disgusting, morally... imho that is.
